Hey, I’ve got a cool idea! Let's make an online slots game about a superhero, except most of the time he's not a superhero and is instead having anxiety attacks. Great idea? Not on the face of it, sure, but just call it Iron Man 3, set it in that can’t-fail Marvel Comics cinematic superhero universe and base it on an unstoppable movie franchise. Shazam! The Iron Man 3 slot! Yes, of course, that’s from a completely different superhero; chill. What am I supposed to write? “Jarvis online!”? It’s kinda lacks panache.
Not at all bad: Iron Man 3 was quite good, in fact, but well more muted than most Marvel flicks have been heretofore. And the Iron man 3 slot doesn’t even have Robert Downey Jr. to carry the day…
Iron Man 3 features 5 reels, 25 paylines, and a symbol set full of good guys and bad guys but not enough to prevent the inclusion of silly ol’ A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9. Here, these low-paying symbols are all blocky and straight-edged! Wow.
The IRON MAN symbol -- no, not the electromagnetic reactor device implanted in Tony Stark’s chest and helping jack him into the Iron Man suits; that might make too much sense – is the scatter; free spins result in the traditional way, i.e. by the landing of three or more on an active payline on a single spin. Things get interesting after that, though.
After landing those scatters, the player gets to choose one of three free games rounds: The “Mark 42” option awards 10 spins with freezing wilds (essentially, slightly more temporary sticky wilds); the “war Machine” round awards eight free spins with random wilds and re-triggers; and the “Iron Patriot” (for those wishing to briefly play Gwyneth Paltrow … I mean, Pepper Potts), which rewards 15 free spins with bonus multipliers and re-triggers.
Sure. A neat little perk pops up when Iron Man plus the War Machine and/or Iron Patriot show up on reels 1, 3 and/or 5 together. When that happens, they kick ass and the players gets a free re-spin with extra paying combinations.
Sadly, Iron Man 3 is not even an independent progressive jackpot slot, much less part of that massive progressive slots band. Dude, he’s in the Avengers already, what more to you want? In all seriousness, however, expansion of the already pretty massive Marvel progressive slots line may be wishful thnking. It seems like Marvel Studios is cranking out these things way too quickly to keep up.
On the other hand, it would be awesome to see, like, 85 titles connecting to a single network that could habitually offer $10 million progressive jackpots.
