Here we were, thinking the Miss Red slots game was going to be based on a terrible pun; instead, it’s another slots-style retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale – albeit one with some serious mixed messages…
Well, let’s look at the title character. Miss Red herself hardly resembles the naïve (and pretty damn unobservant) of the old German folktale, looking a heckuva lot more like she’s borrowed from the Elektra character of Marvel Comics’ Daredevil comic book series, movies, TV show, etc. etc. The point here is that Miss Red looks like a ninja-trained badass set to slice up any wild canine thinking to chow down on poor grandma (who, come to think of it, is probably a CIA-trained operative in this version of the story).
Meanwhile, the antagonist wolf in the Miss Red slots game is hardly the cheery goofball of many a cartoon variant. Depicted on this symbol is an angry, gnarly looking wolf that’s looking like an escapee from a werewolf-themed slot. In fact, the highest-paying symbol in this game is a combo Miss Red/wolf wild – is Miss Red in actuality a werewolf herself? Bizarre.
The Miss Red slot is a “1024 Ways to Win” game, touted as including the misspelled “Multiway Xtra Feature.” According to the game instructions, however, this special feature turns out to be pretty much what you’d expect in a “1024 Ways” slot, i.e. MultiWay Xtra wins pay for the same symbol in any position in adjacent columns; the same symbol in the same column multiplies winnings.
Miss Red is played on a 5 x 4 gameboard, and you’ll be wagering 45 coins per spin. The symbol set is what you’d expect in a Little Red Riding Hood slot: forest animals, grandma and the abovementioned stars of the ages-old conflict are in play. (Kudos for no unnecessary low-paying playing-card symbols, incidentally!)
The bonus symbol based on the game logo and marked “Miss Red” appears in lines 2, 3, 4 and launches free spins à la a scatter symbol.
And from the short attention span school of titling, the Miss Red also includes the End2End Expanding Symbol Feature. The wolf and Miss Red icons are expanding symbols, but not in the traditional fashion. These expanding symbols: Any symbol between any two wolf symbols in the same row transforms into the wolf. Except Red, who moprhs into a “Wolf/Red” symbol, a sort of double wild that pays out serious winnings and, again, seems to imply that Miss Red is a werewolf…
To be honest, the deeper levels of this sordid village conspiracy are never revealed in the Miss Red slots game, but you can certainly spin the reels for fun – and this slot’s certainly fun – right here at Casino Canada.
