Full Moon Fortunes is a decent enough video slot of 20 paylines, though it really must be said that the gray-blue background does absolutely nothing for the look of this game. Already the symbols here – the protagonist Dr. Blackwood, carnivorous werewolf mouths, silver bullets and wolven pawprints – are already rather undynamic. Couple this with the (yawn) playing-card symbols, some of which (I’m looking at you, J!) completely disappear against the backdrop. Quite frankly, this slots game is drab-looking at best.
As for gameplay in Full Moon Fortunes, a full moon symbol landing in reel five naturally (or perhaps supernaturally) turns the taciturn-looking Blackwood wild – an icreasing bonus multiplying wild, in fact. Hit this combination once and it’s a 2x multiplier; twice and it’s 3x, and so on up to 5x. Hold on to your deerstalkers regarding these, by the way, because they get huge in the bonus free spins round.
What’s this about a free spins bonus round?
More to the point, what would a self-respecting online slots game be without a free spins bonus round. Full Moon Fortunes includes this feature; the scatter symbols marked BONUS (?) trigger the "Night of the Full Moon" free spins bonus. Three, four or five scatters win one free spin, two spins at 2x or three spins at 3x, respectively. These spins and multipliers may be augmented in a “pick 'em” video bonus round beforehand.
And within the free spins round, Blackwood turns wild, moon or no, and the bonus multiplier added to wins thanks to the wicked were-wood increases by 5x, from 5x to 25x, the game’s biggest bonus payout.
Wait a minute – so more werewolves get you a higher bonus?
Right. The payout scheme in the Full Moon Fortunes slots game makes no sense with regard to the plotline. I mean, landing more werewolves is a good thing? The more werewolves running amok on the paylines, the bigger the bonus? It kind of puts a new spin on the whole slot game, which may actually be told from the perspective of the lycanthropic Dr. Blackwood. Weird thought.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to play a few spins of Full Moon Fortunes and howl at the moon – I hope the neighbors don’t mind too much…
