Volatility - how do you read it before you commit a bankroll?
Every game says low, medium or high volatility and those three words are doing an enormous amount of work. Is there a way to tell what a game is actually going to do to a small bankroll before you find out the expensive way?

the honest answer is play it in demo for twenty minutes if the site still has demo
Look at the max win multiplier and the hit frequency together. High max win with low hit frequency will eat a small bankroll before it does anything.
