Director Martin Scorsese's Casino (1995) is a classic in the genre of gambling movies. The film is based on the book by Nicholas Pileggi and is the true story of a man who managed multiple casinos on behalf of the mafia.

The movie takes place in Las Vegas in the 1970s and 1980s and tells the story of Sam Rosenthal, the Tangiers Casino owner, who has connections to the mob.

Croupier (1998), starring Clive Owen, looks at the gambling world through a professional dealer or croupier's eyes. Director Mike Hodge stays away from luxury casinos and instead focuses on the turbulent gambling world of card rooms in London.

Jack, a young writer, wants to write a bestseller, but in the meantime, his dad helps him get a job as a croupier in a small casino, where he soon excels at his career. He gives viewers gambling tips throughout the movie, especially on roulette and blackjack, and provides insight into a croupier's life.

Molly's life changes direction after a severe injury ruins her chances of skiing at the Olympics. She gets a job at the Viper Room, which runs weekly high-stakes poker games. Molly eventually becomes a game-runner, making up to $4 million a year. The FBI finally shuts her down after a wild tale of drug addiction, mafia-involvement, and a significant court case.
