Jevgenijs 'The Hurricane' Aleksejevs is fighting in the middleweight division in Spain, hoping to mark his first time fighting outside of Latvia in style.

The exciting 30-year-old power-hitter is getting his chance thanks to some impressive career victories, including a win over former WBA interim middleweight title contender Sergey Khomitsky.

He will take on Dimitri Trenel, a French fighter with three defeats in his last four bouts. The action will take centre stage on 5th August at the Holiday World Resort in Benalmádena, which hosts eight fights, featuring 16 professionals.

Topping the card is double Spanish lightweight and super lightweight champion Samuel Molina (25 wins, three defeats) facing Ignacio Mendoza (44 wins, 14 losses, three draws) in the welterweight category.

Who is The Hurricane?

Instead of clenched fists, it was hard kicking where The Hurricane first began making his way in combat sports.

“My father brought me to the Taekwondo section, and I loved it. Through hours of training in lessons, I achieved a black belt. From there, I became a multiple champion of Latvia, the Baltic States, and Europe.”

His attention turned to kickboxing during his teenage rules, and he discovered he had a natural affinity to it.

“At 13, I began competing under parallel kickboxing rules, and the good results kept coming. After a year or so, I overcame seven fights in one day to become the world champion in kickboxing in Italy. At 15, I became European champion.”

His meteoric rise in kickboxing came to a heart-crushing halt in 2015 when he broke his leg within 17 seconds of his first title show. Instantly his promising career was cut short.

From his misfortune, a new career was born. His coach persuaded him to look at boxing as another avenue, and within months, he was back on the pads but with his hands – not his feet.
